To schedule time in the library,  you may book space yourself using Google calendar. If you have questions, feel free to contact the library for help.

All students must sign in when they visit the library and sign out when they leave unless they are visiting as a class with a teacher in attendance.

Looking for eBooks or Digital Audio Books?

You can now borrow ebooks and digital audiobooks from our GVHS OverDrive collection! Download the Sora app from the Apple store or Google Play and listen or read on the device of your choice. It works with the Kindle app as well! You can even link to a public library account for a much wider selection! Sign in to Sora by selecting Garnet Valley High School and using your school email and ID number.

Database Access

With the exception of our PowerLibrary subscription databases, you can access all paid digital content using Google authentication through Open Athens both at home and at school.

  • Login to your email address
  • Open GMail
  • Click on the "waffle" in the upper right corner
  • Scroll down and click "more"
  • Next to the NoodleTools app, you will see an app called Open Athens
  • Click Open Athens
  • Click on the link under "users" that says Login to MyAthens

You will automatically be logged in and the databases will show as a list of "resources".

You will not need any other username or password!

If you are having login problems, 99.9% of the time the problem is being caused by your browser not clearing cookies from other email address logins. Clear your browser via the settings "from the beginning of time" and try again.

GVHS Library Norms and Expectations

When you use the GVHS Library, you are agreeing to the following norms:


  • Sign in when you enter with your full first and last name and student ID number. (*Student ID’s must be presented when entering during enhancement
  • Sign out when you leave.
  • For bathroom, nurse, etc. see a librarian for a pass.
  • Keep to a level of “productive noise.”
  • Be courteous and respectful of other students and staff.
  • Clean up your space when you leave.
  • Food and drink are not permitted

Students unable to adhere to the above Norms and Expectations will be asked to leave



All students must either sign up in ALMA or receive a pass from the library before the end of 1st period. Students who have not signed up in ALMA must have a valid pass from a teacher. This includes students who are looking for books or printing. EVERYONE must sign in when they arrive for ENH. Clubs scheduled to meet in the library have sign in sheets with their advisor in their designated meeting area. Students not in these clubs are not permitted‚Äč in the club meeting area.

Information Literacy & Technology Curriculum

Library curriculum is centered on skills that will enable students to be safe, effective, responsible, and ethical users of information and technology. Some of the topics include:
